Bought a new pig today. I called her 'Sausages'. She was a very nice gentle pig, but unfortunately she died not long after i took this picture of her. [-O<
I decided not to let my one hour ownership of her be in vain, so she is now an 80kg hanging carcass in a cool room at a mates place.
She will become her name in a week or so. B-)
Dismembering day today.
Mincing day tomorrow and then sausage fest saturday.
Hoping my mate comes through and is allowed to put the bulk of the pig through his mates mincer at the shop. We have that girl, two whole forequarters (front half of a large pig) 9kg trim from our last pigs and 15-20 kilos of lamb trim from my mates kill the other day off 5 lambs. I'm thinking it will be well over 100 kilos of mince, a lot for my little domestic mincer to handle.
Worse comes to worse i'll sit with a few beers tomorrow and do 1 hour on 1 hour off till it's done giving the little beast a rest in between.
Tossin up doing a lamb pepperoni, anyone done that before and can tell me if it works ok?
Just worried the lamb taste will be too strong.
I've dealt with dominos from Smaug and I'll be damned if I came across anything that could go that far under a fingernail. The ones I got look like they have been sanded smooth.
On a lighter note, in my previous life I worked in an operating room and an emergency room and have dealt with nail removal. Did you know that once the nail has been separated from the finger/toe at the tip with a scalpel, it pretty much pulls out cleanly in one piece.
Punkin, I'm not suggesting that you try this at home but if you do, please include video for the rest of us.
Just an observation, your fingers have had a hard life, haven't they?
Sitting there and had a thought about the fingernail a minute ago (it keeps reminding me it's there). I figured i don't have to take the whole nail off, just the bit over the splinter, right?
Good news is the idea is a partial success. Bad news is it's a partial success. ~X(
I've got my left handed index finger glued up at the moment, cut to the bone on the tip of it. One of those small cuts thats so deep it doesn't bleed. :\">
Much better than the fire, that was some serious pain, i could hardly use my baitcaster when i woke up the next morning and was glad to get to hospital that afternoon for painkillers.

luckily it's my little finger rather than my index, i'm favouring it already.

It will form a small pus pocket around the splinter. Then you will be able to squeeze it out from under the nail. Leastways that's how mine always do.
Hurts like a sombitch till it does though.

Better or worse than the fire pit?

I have actually used jeweler's drill bits to drill a hole in my nail to relieve painful pressure, then a drop of superglue to seal the hole...
Nice work, I'm impressed with the saving of the nail.
I would send the splinter back to the manufacturer and demand compensation for faulty product.
Cut my finger pretty bad a few months back, tried to super glue it, damn it burns like hell.
